Early 2017 news

It was only on putting up the previous post that we realised how out of date this blog has become. This is because we now publish regular updates on our KLR Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Karens-Little-Railway-525100954203658/ (which we believe you can view without signing up to Facebook) and partly because this type of blog no longer enjoys any technical support. Here is a selection things we have been up to recently.
RuarĂ has built a locomotive and some wagons. Bodywork for the loco is yet to be decided upon and the planks that form the sides and ends of the wagons are removable so that they can be used in a variety of ways. A brakevan is also under construction. The loco was petrol electric but due to burning out several PWM controllers was converted to being petrol mechanical using the old gearbox from KLR No.5 'Helen'. This is very worn so further modifications are in the pipeline...............

Early in the year we had some fun in the snow. A quickly constructed snowplough did the job of clearing the rails, albeit with a lot of ploughing ourselves to a standstill. Extra weight over the driven wheels helped, but the plough really needs to be wider to throw the snow away from the rails.

We'll be adding more soon..............
